Malton’s farming community is a vital part of North Yorkshire’s agricultural heartland.
Fitzwilliam Malton Estate is distinctive in being primarily a bricks-and-mortar business, with a portfolio of commercial and residential property. Our modest landholding includes 245 acres of arable land west of Malton, farmed by two local farming families: John and Philip Monkman, and Paul and Andrew Willis.
Following a hot, dry summer, 2026 has brought one of the earliest harvests in decades. Yields have varied and overall volumes are lower, but quality and oil content have generally remained high.
As our farming community completes the combining of the final spring wheat fields, we celebrate the vital contribution and resilience of local farmers, together with the agricultural businesses that support them.
Thanks to drone pilots Deaglan HunterBlair and William Hogg for this super footage!
