Malton gets national recognition

Events in Malton have been attracting the attention of Action for Market Towns (AMT), a national group which recognises the importance of small market towns and aims to give them advice and representation.

Malton’s Chef Challenge, which is being run in partnership with Restaurant Magazine, has been picked up by AMT as a unique initiative to entice top chefs into the small market town. The prize money of £10,000 should whet the appetite of many chefs who are looking to start a new business or expand their existing portfolio. Take a look at the ‘Chef Challenge’ tab on www.welovemalton.co.uk for further details.

Action for Market Towns also highlights Malton’s success in attracting new businesses to the town. It recognised the incentives offered by the landlords, Fitzwilliam (Malton) Estates, such as rent-free periods, flexible lease terms and capital investment considerations. Additionally it acknowledged the fact that the estate offers two hours of free parking in the market place which has encouraged people into the local shops.

The website also gave an account of the recent Malton Literature Festival, approving of its variety of events which catered for all ages and interests.
