In Search of Talbot Memories

   

The Fitzwilliam Estate is undertaking a major refurbishment of the Talbot Hotel which it has owned since the early 18th Century. As part of the process we are producing a history of the Hotel from its beginnings up to the present time.

The history of the building itself is complex but reasonably well documented. However, we are particularly keen to get memories and pictures of the Talbot from the people of Malton and the wider region since we know it was the place where people gathered for dinners and dances and important events throughout the 20th Century. We’d also like to hear from people who supplied the Hotel or worked there.

In this latter regard, we launched an appeal for memories among the readers of the Gazette and Herald and, whilst the response so far has been wonderful, we are always keen to hear more. So, if you have Talbot memories of any kind, please do contact us.
